A New Book!

A very creative friend of mine from Sweden stayed at our home last week. (Note: you can follow her creative projects on Facebook at Paula handmade). Paula and I met several years ago at a quilting group while we were both living in Shanghai.  We are kindred spirits! While she was visiting the Pacific Northwest, I took her to Modern Domestic for inspiration. I discovered an upholstery book by Amanda Brown that I could not leave on the shelf. It is a step-by-step guide for DIY chair upholstery. I have only had time to flip through the photos and read a few entries but I am excited about the possibilities for future projects.  I am a sucker for orphan chairs in the world and now I have a means to dress them up when they find their way into our home!

Below is an orphan chair that I brought home a few weeks ago that needed a little TLC.

The next orphan chair I bring home will require hand printed fabric (by yours truly) and upholstery skills I hope to glean from Amanda's book!
